Southampton Transfer Reliability Guide

Under the stewardship of Ralph Hasenhüttl, Southampton have a bit of a mixed reputation when it comes to performance on the pitch.

Despite the fact that the team consistently displays a coordinated high press in the opposition half during matches, they tend to ship in a lot of goals at the other end of the pitch.

They dropped 18 points from winning positions in the concluded 2020-2021 Premier League season, which was the 3rd highest tally amongst the 20 clubs within the division.

As such, the club will always be looking for defensive and offensive reinforcements in the transfer market.

So, I’ve written up a quick transfer reliability benchmark for Southampton that will help you sort out the credible journalists and media sources from the ones who cannot be trusted.

Let’s take a look…

Summary

The general consensus amongst most Saints fans is that the likes of Adam Blackmore, Jeremy Wilson and Dan Sheldon are trustworthy when it comes to transfer stories.

In addition to this, Carl Anka from The Athletic is a solid journalist who is one of a distinct few that reports exclusively on Southampton.

His writing leans much more towards information that’s reliably sourced as opposed to your typical rumour mill puff piece.

Also, Simon Peach – who is tier 1 on the Manchester United transfer reliability list – is a Southampton fan and when he tweets about the club you can rest assured that the information has a high degree of dependability.

So, he makes it into tier 2.
