Watford Transfer Reliability Guide

Watford came straight back up to the English top flight as they managed to achieve promotion from the Championship the season after they were relegated.

They look to be a different side as they’ve brought in more than a couple of new faces to freshen up both the playing and coaching staff.

Xisco Munoz was appointed head coach in December 2020 and they’ve been on the up ever since.

Now let’s get down to business by taking a look at the scale of credibility when it comes to Watford transfer news…

Summary

Making up the numbers in tier 1 is Adam Leventhal, who left Sky Sports News for The Athletic.

As a boyhood fan of the club, he’s written extensively about them and based on the accuracy of his reporting he appears to have insider sources who feed him stories.

Alan Nixon, Mike Walters and the Watford Observer all make up tier 2.

However, stories published by the Watford Observer must have sources checked, as the reliability of the information provided usually depends on whether they have used their own sources or simply acted as an aggregator.

Their articles are therefore only as reliable as the original source that releases them.

As part of tier 3, Sami Mokbel and Matt Barlow have had a few exclusives on Watford transfers in the past but their information can generally be taken with a small pinch of salt.
